NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL DAYS CELEBRATIONS
International Day of Mathematics
On International Day of Mathematics, celebrated on March 14th, the STEM team conducted engaging workshops for teachers in collaboration with The Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development. Teachers from various schools participated and learned innovative ways to make mathematics more enjoyable by incorporating gamification techniques into their lessons. This initiative aimed to transform traditional math teaching methods, making the subject more interactive and accessible for students.
Pakistan Resolution Day
Visitors and curious children celebrated Pakistan Resolution Day on 23rd March at MSC by constructing Minar-e-Pakistan models using LEGO blocks.
International Dark Sky Week
In collaboration with The Cosmic Tribe and the International Dark Sky Association, MSC launched a social media campaign in April, during the week of the new moon, to raise awareness about the importance of dark skies.
Pakistan Independence Day
Parents and children celebrated Pakistan Independence Day on 14th August at Suleman’s Cubeverse by building towns with Lego bricks and designing the flag of Pakistan with Rubik’s Cubes.
World Space Week
In collaboration with Karachi Astronomers Society, The Cosmic Tribe, SUPARCO SEAD, and Dr. Parul Janagal, MSC celebrated World Space Week from 4th October till 10th October 2023 by conducting workshops, observation sessions, webinars, talks, seminars, and presentations. The event reached up to 1,000 curious minds, further amplified by our engaging social media trivia on space.
World Science Day for Peace and Development
MSC celebrated World Science Day for Peace and Development on 10th November with engaging science shows.
World Children’s Day
On World Children’s Day, 20th November, MSC proudly hosted a special celebration where our STEM team conducted free science shows for all visitors. The event was a huge success, filled with hands-on learning and exciting demonstrations that engaged and inspired participants of all ages.
Christmas Tree Party
On December 25th, children had a wonderful time engaging in DIY activities as part of our Christmas Day celebration.
COLLABORATIONS
Aga Khan University Hospital - CIME Workshops
A team of doctors and medical professionals from the AKUH Centre for Innovation in Medical Education conducted “Rescue Rangers: Junior Doctor Adventure,” an immersive experience where participants learned lifesaving skills while playing the role of a first responder.
Karachi Astronomers Society - Astroverse at MSC
Astroverse at MSC is a collaborative initiative between the Karachi Astronomers Society and MSC, aimed at raising awareness about Astronomy and Space Science among the people of Karachi. The event features observations of the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, and even the Andromeda Galaxy. This engaging celebration of space enthusiasts includes a presentation and talk, followed by a Q&A session and observations through high-tech telescopes.
Dot & Line Learning - Online Science Trivia Competition
MSC launched a collaborative effort with Dot & Line Learning for an online science trivia competition for students. Winners were awarded cash prizes and free MSC admission passes.
Goethe Institut - Science Film Festival
The Goethe-Institut Pakistan, in partnership with the Dawood Foundation in Karachi, hosted the Science Film Festival in Pakistan from October 31st to the last week of December 2023. The festival featured films in recognition of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, promoting the restoration and conservation of ecosystems.
Over the course of eight weeks, 5,970 students watched selected films from around the world and Pakistan, and also participated in hands-on science activities and experiments. The opening ceremony, which featured a film from Pakistan, was attended by 300 participants.

Human Library with Engr. Abid Raza
Engr. Abid Raza shared his life experiences, academic background, and professional career journey with families during a human library session at MSC.
SUPARCO SEAD - Postcards to Space Activity
100 students from different schools of Karachi were invited to express their curiosity in STEAM and share their vision for the future of space on specially designed postcards. These postcards will embark on an extraordinary journey aboard the New Shepard Rocket by Club for The Future, traveling to space and back. Each postcard will return to Earth with a unique “Flown to Space” stamp, marking the students’ art and messages as space travellers.
Kainat Studio - Public Talk by Dr Salman Hameed
TDF’s MagnifiScience Centre recently hosted a session with Astrophysicist Professor Salman Hameed, exploring the potential for life beyond Earth. Prof. Hameed discussed recent discoveries and missions related to Mars and habitable exoplanets, as well as advancements in space technology. The engaging session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where attendees had the chance to ask questions and delve deeper into the topic.
The Cosmic Tribe - Astronomy Workshops
Rayan Khan from The Cosmic Tribe, dressed as a Dark Sky Ambassador, conducted engaging workshops for children to spark curiosity about space and celestial objects.
The Indus Hospital - Blood Donation Drives
MSC partnered with The Indus Hospital to host blood donation drives aimed at supporting children with Thalassemia. Each bottle of blood can save up to three lives.
